'Shocked And Disgusted': 8 Injured In Newark Shootings, Police Say Eight people were injured in a series of Newark shootings Tuesday night, authorities said. The first incident happened around 6:25 p.m. near Lincoln Street and Court Street, local and county officials said. Two men were injured, including one critically. Just before 8:10 p.m., two boys, ages 15 and 17, were found by police having been shot while riding in a stolen car in the area of Quitman Street near Montgomery Street. Thieves Steal Brand-New SUV From Family, Crash In Newark During Pursuit Members of a Clifton family were unloading groceries from their brand-new sedan Wednesday night when a group of brazen thieves pulled up, stole the car and led police on a chase into Newark that ended in a crash, authorities said. A Clifton police cruiser and an SUV involved in the theft crashed on Avon Avenue in Newark during the pursuit, Clifton Police Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said. The officer was OK, but the thieves evaded capture, he said. It all happened in an instant.
