Absurd Items, Fewer Plastic Bags Found On NJ Beaches By Volunteers In 2023
Volunteers cleaning New Jersey's beaches in 2023 found hundreds of thousands of pieces of debris, from typical garbage to some very strange items. The environmental nonprofit group Clean Ocean Action (COA) released its 2023 Annual Beach Sweeps Report on Thursday, Apr. 4. The report shows data about the litter found on the Garden State's beaches by COA's 3,664 volunteers. COA noted that there were about 60 percent fewer volunteers during the 2023 sweeps due to bad weather. A 4.8 magnitude earthquake with a New Jersey epicenter was confirmed by the USGS Thursday, April 5 The quake occurred at 10:23 a.m. about 7 km north of Whitehouse Station, NJ, according to the USGS. 22-Year-Old Dad Of Toddler Killed In South Jersey Crash, Campaign Says
A 22-year-old South Jersey man was killed in a March 22 car accident, according to a GoFundMe campaign. Anthony DeAnne Jr., of Berlin, died in the crash, according to his aunt, Gia. The three-car head-on crash occurred in Voorhees, as previously reported by Daily Voice. Anthony left a 2-year-old son, Anthony, behind along with his girlfriend, Faith. A Burlington mother is asking for help after losing everything in a house fire. Kashira Hannah's daughter Ka’Leah remains sedated on a ventilator after getting trapped in the fire, according to a GoFundMe campaign. "I ask for prayers and anything that you are able to give to help me and my children," she wrote. "I need all the help I can get as I rebuild our lives and find a new home." One person was fatally struck by an Atlantic City Rail Line bound for Philadelphia early Monday, April 1, authorities told Daily Voice.
