: Targeted Victim Beaten By Just-Released Ex-Con, Juvenile, Police Say
A man was beaten, stomped on and bashed in the head with a chair during a vicous brawl Friday night in the food court of the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, authorities said. The melee ignited a panic, with people running for the exits -- and some wrongly telling police they heard gunshots -- around 7 p.m. It also sent the 26-year-old victim from Paterson to the hospital with serious injuries, Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. A gun that was put to the head of a cab driver was recovered by Hackensack police who seized an 18-year-old East Rutherford resident and five juveniles accused of robbing him. Two teenagers were arrested by members of the US Marshals Office in a shooting that left two other teens dead last September in Trenton, authorities said. A Newark police detective was injured after being struck by a stolen vehicle driven by a 17-year-old boy Sunday, authorities said. UPDATE: The accused getaway driver in the cold-blooded shooting death this summer of a 16-year-old Trenton boy and wounding of another has been indicted by a local grand jury. Keith N. Fingerprints Lead To Charges Against Adult, Juveniles In PalPark Vehicle Theft
A Newark man was charged with stealing a Mercedes Benz from a Palisades Park driveway thanks to a fingerprint match, authorities said. Raymond Branch, 19, and two juveniles were involved in the July 24 theft, Detective Sgt. Alex Monteleone said. The owner told police his GPS tracked the Mercedes to Newark, where city police found the vehicle and had it processed for fingerprints, Monteleone said.
