Ramsey police say Mahwah man masturbated in one store, took lewd pics in another

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A Mahwah man masturbated in the women’s intimate clothing section of one Ramsey department store and took “inappropriate” cellphone pics of females at another, authorities said this morning.

Ramsey police responding to a call from Kohl’s on Saturday afternoon reviewed store surveillance video and arrested 20-year-old Matthew Widner on lewdness charges for “masturbating in the vicinity of both women and children,” Police Chief Bryan Gurney said.

They also reviewed video of another case of inappropriate conduct, this one from July 4 at the T.J. Maxx in the Interstate Shopping Center, and charged Widner with invasion of privacy for capturing the cellphone images, the chief said.

Widner, formerly of Wyckoff, was arrested last year by Ridgewood police on charges of masturbating in the childen’s section of the public library.

Widner, who was released without bail, was due in Municipal Court in Ramsey today.
