More charges against Lodi man in Ramsey fitness center car break-ins

UPDATE: Ramsey police said they’ve tied five more vehicle burglaries outside area fitness centers to a Lodi man first charged with breaking into cars in April.

Jason Daniello, 38, was free on bail when Detectives Adam Szelga, Marc Shingelo and Adam Macaluso arrested him on Tuesday in connection with car break-ins at Retro Fitness and the New York Sports Club, both on Route 17.

Three months ago, they charged him with two vehicle burglaries, one at Retro Fitness and the other at Sweat Fitness Center at the Main Plaza mall on on E. Main Street, as part of a continuing investigation, Police Chief Bryan Gurney said.

Daniello was being held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail pending a Municipal Court appearance Tuesday on the new charges — five counts each of burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
