Officers Ryan Peterson and Kyle Ust could smell pot from inside the vehicle they stopped on Sylvan Avenue between Irving and Bayview just after 2 a.m. Saturday, Sgt. James Tracy told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

The driver, later identified as 35-year-old Colin Ramsey, gave the officers several false IDs, Tracy said.

A subsequent search turned up the pot.

Ramsey and his passenger, 18-year-old Tishan Bradford were charged with possessing marijuana within 1,000 feet of the Japanese Children’s Society school with the intent to distribute it. Ramsey also was charged with hindering.

Ramsey was being held on $125,000 bail, and Bradford on $75,000, in the Bergen County Jail.
