Tragedy Strikes Again: NJ Family Killed In Second Fire
A woman who was displaced by a fire months ago is reeling again in New Jersey after a second blaze claimed the life of her own mother and two children over the weekend in Essex County. At around 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, the West Orange Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire on Liberty Street, where they were met by heavy smoke and three unresponsive victims inside the home. Runaway Tractor Rams Carlstadt Home
No injuries were reported after a tractor barreled down a steep hill and into a Carlstadt home. The trailer-less tractor "had an almost a perfect landing," a witness said, when it rolled directly down Broad Street and into the garage door of the 6th Street home around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, June 9. The borough Building Department was notified. Deer Chased By Dog Dies After Crashing Through Window Of River Vale Home
It came in as a possible burglary in progress but turned out to be a horrific accident. Sometime before dawn Wednesday, a deer being chased by a dog crashed through the window of a River Vale home, police said. The gravely wounded deer eventually died, Capt. Chris Bulger said. Animal control removed the carcass from the Coopers Lane home, he said. “The dog appeared to be fine and the deer showed no signs of injury from the dog,” the captain said. The dog’s owner and the homeowner “have been in contact and will handle the matter between them for the damage,” he said.

Haworth Couple Hospitalized In Deck Mishap
A Haworth couple were hospitalized after a deck rail at their home gave way, authorities said. The Paulson Place couple, both in their mid-60s, fell five or so feet in the mishap shortly after 6:30 p.m., Detective Sgt. James Morgan said. Both were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center – the man with rib and wrist pain and the woman with head and back pain – Morgan said.

UPDATE: A semi-retired Ridgewood woman and her four cats were killed in an overnight oven fire Monday, authorities confirmed. Responders found the body of 66-year-old Sharon Maes in the first-floor living room of her two-story North Pleasant Avenue home after fire broke out in her kitchen oven shortly before 1 a.m., Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. She'd apparently left something unattended and was overcome by smoke as she tried to flee, responders told Daily Voice.
