WALLINGTON, N.J. -- Ellen K. (nee Smith) Perkins, a lifelong resident of Wallington, died March 13 after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was 68.
Perkins was born May 7, 1947, to Edward and Alice (Neilley) Smith. She was a graduate of St. Mary's, Rutherford, Class of 1965.
On Sept 20, 1969, she married Joseph G. Perkins at The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
Perkins most recently worked at Mountainside Hospital as a financial administrator, and prior to that worked at St. Mary's and Passaic General hospitals.
She was a friend to all who knew her and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and co-workers. She also loved to spend time at the shore in Lavallette.
Perkins is survived by her husband Joseph G. Perkins; three children, Amy and Robert Brown, Joseph E Perkins and Alison and Danny Robayo; grandchildren, Ashley Brown, Gabriel and Charlize Robayo; brother Joseph and his wife Linda Smith; brother-in-law Ted Stankiewicz; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three siblings, Guy Smith, Sister Catherine Joseph "Alice" Smith, O.P. and Gail Stankiewicz.
Visiting hours will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave., Wallington. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, 127 Paterson Ave., Wallington. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name to The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church would be appreciated.
