Miss Teen USA, a Morris Plains native, is giving up her crown.
UmaSofia Srivastava, 17, made the announcement on Instagram on Wednesday, May 8, saying her personal values no longer fully align with the "direction of the organization."
"I am grateful for all the support from my family, my state directors, my sister queens, and the fans who have cheered me on since I won my state title," said Srivastava, who was crowned last September in Reno, NV.

Miss New Jersey, Hoboken Resident, Sets Sights On Miss USA Crown
Derby Chukwudi is proud to represent the Garden State.
Chukwudi, a Hoboken resident, is Miss New Jersey 2023 and will be competing at the Miss USA pageant on Friday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. in Reno airing on The CW.
Chukwudi, will be competing against 50 other women (including Washington, D.C.'s winner) for the title.
