Newark Man Convicted Of Day-Long Robbery Spree: Prosecutors
A Sunday in November 2020 was a prolific day for Anthony Torres, a 28-year-old Newark resident.
Torres was convicted on Monday, Nov. 20 of committing multiple robberies on Nov. 15, 2020, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II said.
Torres was captured on video driving a stolen getaway car for one robbery, before robbing two different people on the streets in Newark, Stephens said.
He was convicted of second degree robbery, conspiracy and receiving stolen property, Stephens said.

Gotcha! Lyndhurst Detectives Crash Home Burglary, Nab Local Couple
A Lyndhurst couple had just broken into a local home when they were seized by a pair of township detectives.
Daniel Soto, 22, and Nicolette Greco, 25, didn't see Lyndhurst Police Detective Chris Cuneo watching them case the unoccupied Kingsland Avenue home around 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said.
Detective Nick Abruscato had joined Cuneo when the couple slipped around to the side of the house and momentarily out of sight, the lieutenant said.
The detectives followed and found a broken basement window, Auteri said.

Masked Offender From Bergenfield Caught With Meth, Burglar Tools In Pre-Dawn Stop: Dumont PD
A known offender was arrested again after a Dumont officer spotted him carrying bolt cutters while riding a bicycle down the main drag two hours before sunrise, authorities said.
And, once again, a judge released him soon after.
Andrew Lugo, 35, of Bergenfield, has been arrested in several towns – among them, Saddle River, Hackensack, Englewood, Teaneck and Little Ferry – the past few years, records show.
Charges have included burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and drug possession.

Two Newark residents were arrested in Linden on Thursday, July 6 for driving a stolen car and possessing a stolen handgun, police said.
At 8 p.m., officers were alerted to a report of a stolen vehicle traveling south on Route 1, Captain Christopher Guenther of the Linden Police said. The car suddenly came to a stop at Avenue C and Tijohn Cato, 30, and Samiya Medina, 34 were arrested and taken into custody, Guenther said.

US Marshals Look To Seize Lodi Driver Charged With Crashing Stolen Car During Route 46 Pursuit
A Lodi man who crashed a stolen car on Route 46 during a police chase will remain in the Bergen County Jail until U.S. Marshals can pick him up.
Samuel Sosa, 24, initially stopped the stolen 2010 Lincoln MKX at the highway on-ramp from Main Street near Chief Fire Equipment & Service around 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, following a hit-and-run on Avenue E, Lodi Police Sgt. Dominic Miller said.
