Man Sitting In Roadway Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Elizabeth: Police A man sitting in the roadway was fatally struck by a vehicle in Elizabeth on Tuesday, Oct. 24 police said. In the middle of the night, police initially received a call about a man sitting in the roadway on Newark Avenue and then later received a call about the same person being struck, Ruby Contreras of the Elizabeth Police Department said.  The man was pronounced dead at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Contreras said.

Two Pedestrians Struck In Two-Car Crash In Elizabeth Two pedestrians were hospitalized in a two-car crash in Elizabeth Thursday, Sept. 8, authorities said. The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. at  Newark and North Avenues, a city police spokeswoman said. Both pedestrians were taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation.

Lyft Driver Kidnapped At Gunpoint In Newark, Forced To Make Several Stops Police in Newark are looking for a group of people who forced a ride share driver at gunpoint to take them to various locations in the area before robbing the driver, Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said.  The Lyft driver picked up a fare on the 700 block of S. 18th Street around 3:30 p.m. April 7.
