And then there were none. New Jersey's last-standing Sears store, located in Jersey City, appears to be closing. The store at Newport Centre announced a store closing sale on Friday evening, Jan. 5 on Facebook. A voice answering service said the store was closed when Daily Voice called Friday at 7 p.m. Daily Voice has reached out to the Simon Property Group, who owns Newport Centre, and Sears corporate for comment. Heavy rain on Friday, Sept. 29 closed major roadways across New Jersey. Gov. Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency in the late afternoon, as rain continued falling, leaving drivers trapped in flood waters across the state. Dunderhook Road at Paramus Road in Paramus remained closed due to flooding, leading the borough's Office of Emergency Management to urge an evacuation of the area late Friday afternoon. US Marshals Capture Jersey City Man's Accused Killer In Virginia
US Marshals captured a suspected New Jersey killer in Virginia, authorities said. Jersey City's Brandon Montauge, 24, is being held in Newport News, Virginia, pending his extradition back to New Jersey following an investigation into the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Tyreef Robinson, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced on Thursday, March 9 following his arrest.
