23-Year-Old Airlifted After Driver Sends Car Into Oncoming Traffic On I-78: Police A 23-year-old woman was flown to the hospital in a crash on Interstate 78 Sunday, June 25, New Jersey State Police said. An Acura Integra driven by a 23-year-old Manville man ran off the highway to the left and crossed the center median, entering the westbound lanes around 9 a.m. near milepost 22.7, in Clinton Township, NJSP Trooper Charles Marchan said. The Acura was struck by a westbound Hyundai. The 23-year-old Acura driver was seriously injured, as was his passenger, a Middlesex woman, who was flown to the hospital. The Hyundai's passengers suffered moderate injuries.

35-Year-Old Driver Dead In Route 78 Crash A 35-year-old man died after his vehicle overturned and struck a tree Friday on Interstate 78 in Somerset County. Stephan Tarnowsky was heading west when his Ford Crown Victoria went off the road and struck a tree around 11:15 a.m. near milepost 36.5 in Warren, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Alejandro Goez said. The Washington (Warren County) resident was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. The crash remains under investigation.

State Police Seek Info In Hit-Run Pedestrian Crash On I-78 Authorities are seeking the public's help in the investigation of a serious pedestrian crash on Interstate 78 in Essex County Friday morning. The pedestrian was struck by a silver minivan or SUV on the eastbound side near milepost 56.8 in Newark, and rushed to an area hospital. The driver fled and east. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Troop "B" Somerville Station at 908-725-0107. Anonymous tips are welcome.

Leonardo Man, 37, Struck, Killed By BMW On I-78 In Newark A Monmouth County man was killed when he was hit by a BMW while walking on a ramp to Interstate 78 westbound in Newark, police said. Travis J. Sherman, 37, of Leonardo in Middletown Township, was struck at 8:50 p.m. Thursday as he walked on the ramp leading to the highway from Routes 1 and 9 north, according to New Jersey State Police.
