9-Year-Old Elizabeth Resident Dies 9-Year-Old Elizabeth Resident Dies
9-Year-Old Elizabeth Resident Dies Dave Alex Grande passed away on Monday, April 24 at the age of 9, according to his obituary. Grande was an Elizabeth resident and attended Joseph Battin School No. 4. The Elizabeth Board of Education held a moment of silence for him at its meeting on Thursday, May 11. "Alex was a kind kid and funny, and he love giving warm hugs to me. Now he is in a happy place to be," wrote someone on his tribute wall.  A funeral was held on Tuesday, May 2 at Las Rosas Bannworth Funeral Home in Elizabeth. Elizabeth BOE Approves Purchase Of Closed Catholic School Property For $5.5 Million The Elizabeth school district’s board of education unanimously approved the purchase of a former Catholic school property known as the Benedictine Academy. The resolution to purchase the $5.5 million property, which closed at the end of the 2019-2020 school year, was made during a Wednesday afternoon meeting with Elizabeth BOE President Jerry Jacobs, NJ.com reports. Lawsuits: 9 More Men Accuse North Jersey Shop Teacher Robert Goodlin Of Sex Assault A New Jersey shop teacher previously accused of sexually assaulting a pair of students is facing similar accusations from nine more men, NJ.com reports. The suits were filed in Union and Hudson Superior Courts against Robert Goodlin, who is incarcerated at the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center in Avenel. In 2019, Goodlin was convicted of sexually assaulting a pair of students at Battin Middle School in Elizabeth, where he taught from 1993 to 2004. Two of the latest suits come from former Elizabeth students, while seven were students in Secaucus -- where Goodlin taught in the 1980s, NJ.com…
