Two Injured After Cars Hit By Falling Poles Struck By Train In Elizabeth: Authorities Two people were injured after a train hit overhead wires which then struck three cars in Elizabeth on Monday, May 20, authorities said. At 1 p.m., a freight train heading westbound hit overhead wires on Division Street, causing multiple poles to be pulled down, a spokesman for the City of Elizabeth said.  Three cars were hit by falling wires and poles and two people suffered minor injuries and were transferred to a nearby hospital, authorities said. Fatal Accident: Elizabeth Woman Struck By Cab, Run Over By Passing Car An Elizabeth woman was fatally struck by a livery car Thursday morning, authorities said. The victim was crossing Division Street when she was struck around 7:15 a.m., a spokesperson for the Elizabeth Police Department said. Another vehicle went around the cab and ran over the woman, lying in the street, the spokesperson said. She was transported to Trinitas Regional Medical Center.  The investigation is continuing, however DUI was not a factor.
