War Of The Birds: Jersey Shore City Will Continue Using Falcons To Fight Off Seagulls
Lifeguards won't be the only ones patrolling Ocean City beaches this summer, as falcons will be on the prowl up in the sky. Ocean City will continue using falcons to prevent seagulls from becoming a nuisance along the oceanfront. City council unanimously approved a resolution to award a $328,000 contract to East Coast Falcons. The falcons will be out at 8 a.m. or earlier to keep gulls from flocking to breakfast leftovers. State authorities announced a bunch of new election fraud charges on Wednesday against Paterson’s council president along with allegations against his wife and campaign manager, as well. Alex Mendez, 48, has been awaiting trial in a case, stemming from 2020 council races, that has undergone a series of one delay after another. The contests were conducted entirely by mail-in ballots as COVID was spreading. Longtime Bayonne Councilman Joseph Makowski, 77
Joseph L. Makowski, a longtime public servant for the City of Bayonne died on Saturday, May 13 at the age of 77, according to his obituary. Makowski spent 16 years on the City Council and also worked for the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services for over 27 years. He was council president from 1994 to 1998 and served on numerous committees and clubs. His father, Joseph E. Newly-released bodycam footage shows a Jersey City councilwoman at the center of a recent hit-and-run case trying to plead her way out of having her car towed last year. Lukoil gas stations are officially suspending from operating in New Jersey's largest city, but the franchise owners say the move is only harmful to small businesses. Paterson Police Take Councilman Into Custody For Violating Wife's Restraining Order
Paterson Councilman Luis Velez was taken into custody outside Tuesday night's City Council meeting by authorities who said he violated a restraining order obtained by his wife, according to several reports.
