An Ocean County man was under police guard when he tried to escape from a Hoboken hospital following accusations of aggravated assault, authorities said.
Jared Mullin, 22, is accused of assaulting a man who was found dazed, confused and lying on the ground with a large cut on his forehead near River Street and Hudson Place around 10 p.m. Sunday, Hoboken Police Detective/Lieutenant Danilo Cabrera said.
Mullin, of Jackson, was arrested following an investigation and charged with aggravated assault. He was processed and taken to Hoboken University Medical Center for treatment of his own injuries, police said.
During treatment, Mullin, who was under police guard, allegedly tried to escape from the hospital but was apprehended with help from security, police said.
As a result, Mullin faces additional charges for obstruction of administration of law, escape and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
Mullin was being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
