Mark Conforti, Dedicated Union Baseball Coach, Dies At 69

Mark Conforti, an active member of Union Little League, died on Thursday May 9 at Newton Medical Center after a short illness, according to his obituary.

Conforti was a musician in many bands and also enjoyed fishing and watching sports, particularly the Yankees and Giants, his obituary reads. 

The Union Little League Board of Directors has set up a fundraiser to help pay for funeral costs. As of Wednesday, May 15, more than $10,385 has been raised. Conforti was a longtime member of the board of directors, and was serving as vice-president at the time of his passing, according to the fundraiser. He also served as president.

He has dedicated his time, over many years, in helping maintain the facilities and coaching his son's baseball teams," Greg Pavick, who organized the fundraiser said. "He truly loved coaching and teaching the game of baseball."

Conforti, who moved to Blairstown last year, is survived by his wife Maria, his children, Brenan, Nestor and RitaMaria, his grandchildren, Gage and Brynn, his sister June and other family members and friends, his obituary reads.

A funeral was held on Tuesday, May 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church in Union, according to his obituary.
