The incident happened just after 9 a.m. at 100 River St., where the worker fell 8 to 10 feet, Police Chief Michael Antista said. He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Antista said. OSHA has been notified. Editor's note: Police initially told Daily Voice that the worker was unconscious and fell 22 feet but later corrected themselves, saying the worker was conscious and fell 8 to 10 feet.

The incident happened at 444 East Gate, where the contractor fell 12 feet sometime around 11 a.m. Incident reporter Boyd A. Loving says the incident happened in the rear of the home when the worker fell from scaffolding. Ridgewood Police Capt. Glenn Ender says the worker was transported to Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Update: Ridgewood Firefighters Rescue Construction Worker Who Fell 20 Feet Into Basement Firefighters rescued a worker who fell 20 or so feet off a ladder Monday morning into the basement of a new home under construction in Ridgewood. Rescuers brought a Stokes basket and ropes along after the 10:30 a.m. mishap on North Monroe Street. After they got him out through a window well, the Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps rushed the 28-year-old worker to the trauma unit at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson.
