Newark police are attempting to locate the person who carjacked a vehicle with a 3-year-old inside on Tuesday, Oct. 31, triggering an AMBER alert. At 8:13 a.m., police responded to the 100 block of Wilson Avenue after a 2017 silver-colored Hyundai Sonata was carjacked, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. As police canvassed the area, the AMBER alert was issued at 9:55 a.m., Fragé said. A 3-year-old was found unharmed in Jersey City after an AMBER alert was issued out of Newark on Tuesday, Oct. 31. At 8:15 a.m., police responded to the 100 block of Wilson Avenue after a vehicle was carjacked with the child left inside, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. At 10:30 a.m., police found the vehicle in Jersey City with the child inside and unharmed, Fragé said. The incident remains under investigation.

Police seek the public's help identifying an assault suspect from a bar fight in Newark. The suspect shown above allegedly struck a man at the bar on Saturday, May 7, sending him to the hospital, police said. At approximately midnight, the suspect was captured on surveillance video punching the victim in the face multiple times at a bar on New York Avenue. The victim lost consciousness, fell to the floor, and was later treated at University Hospital, police said. A 24-year-old Newark man was in custody on accusations he robbed a city resident at knifepoint, authorities said. Police responded to a call about a robbery in progress on the 400 block of Ferry Street around 3:45 p.m., where a victim told officers that a man with a box cutter took his phone and money, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F.
