A Livingston woman has been charged with stealing more than $17,000 from a high school fundraising account in Essex County, prosecutors announced Friday, Jan. 16.
Khaliah Johnson, 44, was charged with third-degree theft in connection with pilfering $17,360 from Cicely Tyson High School of Performing Arts in East Orange, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II said.
Johnson was serving as the school’s treasurer and head secretary at the time of the alleged thefts, which occurred between July 5, 2024, and June 16, 2025, Stephens said.

A man is in police custody after police say he choked, tackled, bitten, and robbed a woman described as his "dating partner" during a domestic violence incident in Edgewater last fall.
