Update: Gunman Killed In Confrontation With Police Was Married To Ocean Prosecutor's Detective UPDATE: Authorities officially identified a 39-year-old man armed with a semi-automatic rifle who was shot and killed by police in Manchester Township last week as the husband of an Ocean County prosecutor's detective. Shannon “Shane” Rose, 39, encountered police responding to a 911 call on Elizabeth Avenue in the Ocean County township shortly before 8:30 p.m. Dec. 6, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. Tractor-Trailer Fire Closes Route 17 A rush-hour fire incinerated the cab of a tractor-trailer on Route 17. The rig ignited on the southbound highway in Ramsey just before the Franklin Turnpike exit and across from the Shannon Rose restaurant, sending a column of black smoke skyward that could be seen for miles. Police temporarily closed both sides of the highway as members of the Ramsey Fire Department and Rescue Squad doused the late afternoon blaze with help from their Mahwah colleagues.
