A 26-year-old Elizabeth man has been identified as the scooter rider who died following a pursuit with police in Perth Amboy on Sunday, July 6, authorities said. Joseph Acevedo-Rodriguez, who went by "Tuti" died just four days before his 27th birthday, according to his obituary from the Alvarez Funeral Home in Newark. "Joseph passed away doing what he loved most: riding motorcycles with his friends on the weekends, one of his passions," his obituary reads, making no mention of the police pursuit. Authorities have identified the 18-year-old man killed riding a scooter in Paterson Wednesday night, Oct. 2. Angelvl Javier-Reynos was riding with another 18-year-old city resident when they were struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee just before 8 p.m. at 9th and Madison avenues, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi said. Child Hospitalized After Being Struck By Van Pulling Out Of Bergen County Driveway
A child was hospitalized after being struck by a van while riding a scooter on a Bergen County street Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 21, police said. The 11-year-old was riding on Boiling Springs Road when they were struck by a 2013 Ford Ecoline E350 exiting a driveway around 4:45 p.m., Capt. Jeff Yannacone said. The child was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries to the calf and upper thigh.
