Lyndhurst Man, Boy Killed In Horrific Route 80 Crash
A horrific crash was reported mid-morning Sunday on Route 80 in Passaic County. A 46-year-old Lyndhurst man and a boy, also from Lyndhurst, were killed in the single-vehicle crash off the eastbound highway in Wayne shortly after 10 a.m. April 30, authorities said. Two other boys were hospitalized after the Honda Odyssey went off the left side of the Exit 53 ramp near the Routes 46/23 spaghetti bowl and slammed into a utility pole, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Driver, 29, Seriously Hurt In Route 80 Rollover Crash
A 29-year-old South Jersey woman was seriously injured when her vehicle was struck by a box truck and overturned on Route 80 in Morris County early Saturday, April 15. Sheryl A. Burg, of Florence, was heading west near milepost 31.6 in Roxbury when she slowed down in the right lane and was struck from behind by the International box truck around 2:55 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said. Burg's vehicle overturned, leaving her seriously injured. The crash remains under investigation.

A firefighter was treated for chest pains during a large brush fire that spread perilously close to homes near the Teaneck section of Overpeck Park. "It's raining ashes," resident Kelly Bacon Fousse said after the fire ignited in the area south of Degraw Avenue between Route 95 and Teaneck Road around 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11. A 32-year-old Jersey City motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a tractor trailer on Route 80 Friday, Feb. 10 during rush hour, authorities said. A Volvo tractor trailer struck the back of Desmond A. Gomes' Honda motorcycle around 5:20 p.m. at milepost 11.6 in Hope Township (Warren County), New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said. Gomes was ejected and killed, Marchan said. The crash remains under investigation.

The 29-year-old Bergen County Corvette driver killed over the weekend in a crash on Route 80 was being remembered as a devoted husband, son and business owner. Luis Ramirez-Cano, of Bogota, died when his vehicle was struck by a Lexus RX3 around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5 in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Philip Curry said.
