Signs Of Hope Emerge For Ramsey Teen Seriously Injured In Mahwah Crash, Still Long Way To Go
Cassie Arcaro should be enjoying her last year of high school instead of fighting for her life. The 17-year-old Ramsey High School senior was seriously injured when a vehicle occupied by her and three fellow Ramsey teens slammed into a telephone pole in Mahwah late Friday, Nov. 17. The brakes had apparently locked, sending the vehicle skidding out of control, responders at the scene told Daily Voice. Firefighters extricated Cassie, who was flown by medical chopper to St. Joseph's University Medical Center and placed into a medically-induced coma. Meanwhile, many prayed. SEE: Ramsey Girl…

"No report of any injury to students or staff. "RHS will be dismissing early today. Updates on dismissal procedures will be forthcoming." Meanwhile, RHS remained in lockdown status. An intensive search of the pr…

Prosecutor Drops Child Porn Charges Against Ramsey Plumber After Cybersleuth Proves Innocence
A Ramsey volunteer first responder who was wrongfully accused in a child-porn case was vindicated after a private forensic investigator proved his innocence. Charles Gilbride had no idea what was happening when cybercrime detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office raided his home and arrested him early on the morning of Dec. 2, 2021. That’s because he hadn’t done anything wrong. First responders, like many others, found it impossible to believe the 2015 Ramsey High School graduate – who’d been a lieutenant with the all-volunteer Ramsey Rescue Squad – was capable of such crimes. …

Four new COVID-19 cases were reported this week in a single Bergen County school district. Individuals who came in close contact with the cases were instructed to stay home for 14 days, and everyone else will attend classes as usual. While there was no connection between the cases at Hubbard and Smith, the three at Hubbard all appeared to be linked to an exposure outside of school, Superintendent Matthew Mu…

19: Delayed School Cancellation Notice Causes Confusion At North Jersey High School
Issues with a notification system caused confusion at one Bergen County high school Tuesday morning. Students had already showed up for an in-person day of learning at Ramsey High School when the email announcing the shift to remote learning due to a positive COVID-19 case went out around 9:05 a.m., NorthJersey.com reports. The email sent by Superintendent Matthew Murphy said classes would be held remotely "out of an abundance of caution," after an unidentified faculty member's rapid COVID-19 test returned positive. Later in the day, District Technology Director Ryan Kenny said t…

19 Exposure Halts Ramsey Football Workouts
Ramsey High School's football program has halted workouts just three days after they began over COVID-19 concerns. Some of the players may have been exposed to a non-football Ramsey High School individual, superintendent Dr. Matthew Murphy told NorthJersey.com. The NewJersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association guidelines mandates athletes must be groups of 10 or less. Athletes also cannot share equipment, must have proof of current physical exams and are subject to regular temperature checks. The organization last Friday proposed an abbreviated fall sports calendar, with games …

: Soldier Surprises Ramsey HS Sister On Her Birthday During Memorial Day Assembly
Ramsey High School sophomore Amber Clark got exactly what she wanted for her birthday. She got to see be with her sister, Sophie-Leigh Baxter Clark, a U.S. Army soldier who took a six-day leave from service as a soldier in South Korea. The younger Clark was chosen to introduce the school's band at a Memorial Day ceremony, and just before she sat down, Principal Michael Thumm stopped her. "If you could have anything for your birthday," he said, "what would it be?" That's when Sophie-Leigh pulled up in a golf cart to surprise her sister.

: These North Jersey Schools Scored Among Top 50 In State
New Jersey released its grades for public schools, ranking each one on a scale of 0 to 100. Nineteen schools in Bergen, Morris and Passaic counties scored among the top 50 in the state. Critics say the ratings are "oversimplified" and state officials say the grades aren't a fair representation of all that a school has to offer. The grades were based on four-year graduation rate, five-year graduation rate, progress toward English language proficiency, English proficiency, math proficiency and chronic absenteeism. Here are the schools that earned the highest grades in Bergen, Morris a…
