Brown Shooter Claudio Neves Valente Found Dead The suspect in both the mass shooting at Brown University and the killing of an MIT professor has been found dead by suicide, officials announced Thursday night, Dec. 18.  He was identified in an affidavit (attached at the bottom of this news article), and signed Thursday in Rhode Island as Claudio Manuel Neves Valente, 48, a former Brown University student and a national of Portugal, whose last known address was in Miami, Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez said at a press conference. In a unanimous vote on Tuesday, May 28, the RIH Board of Education voted 9-0 in favor of approving Dr. Ronnie Tarchichi's contract, which goes into effect July 1. The board also voted 7-0 with two abstentions to terminate the contract of interim superintendent Dr. James Baker. When asked about the sudden termination of Baker's contract, the BOE declined to comment on personnel matters. North Jersey Dad Doug Perkowski 'Taught Us Importance Of Living Life To The Fullest' Beloved North Jersey father John Douglas “Doug” Perkowski died at his Montclair home following a valiant cancer battle on Sunday, Jan. 15. He was 44. Born in Whitehouse, Doug was raised in New York City, where he went to the Buckley School, his obituary says. Doug studied Mandarin Chinese and played center on the varsity football team at his high school, Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts.
