Noontime temperatures in Paterson were way too high for a man to be pulling a ski mask over his face, Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik said.
Jeziel Cabral Rodriguez, 32, began tipping away as detectives from his fugitive squad approached a group gathered in front of a Park Avenue grocery store, the sheriff said.
Then he took off on foot.
Rodriguez darted down a driveway on nearby Carroll Street, then hopped into a parked Chevy Malibu -- where the detectives found him, Berdnik said.

A man arrested for rape and kidnapping in Tennessee is thought to have raped children in 10 other states, according to the Hamilton County district attorney's office and Homeland Security.
Ryan Andrew Meyung, 30, of Ringgold, Tennessee, was on three counts of child rape, two counts of aggravated kidnapping and other related charges on Saturday, Dec. 18, as first reported by the Chattanoogan.

UPDATE: For more than eight years, a now-former Amtrak employee from the Jersey Shore collected chainsaws and chainsaw parts from the agency, then sold them and kept the money.
Federal authorities eventually caught on to Jose Rodriguez, 49, of Brick, then got a conviction for mail fraud.
Hired in October 2007, Rodriguez worked as a senior engineer and repairman at Amtrak's North Brunswick facility, authorities said.
