Police in Rutherford are investigating a Route 3 crash that they say was likely caused by a driver in the express lanes trying to cut across to the local lanes Sunday, Aug. 11. 500 Without Power In Hackensack, 450 In Maywood As Debby Nears
Wind gusts up to 50 mph were wreaking havoc across New Jersey on Friday, Aug. 9. As of 2:30 p.m., thousands of residents were without power and multiple roadways were closed due to downed wires and related crashes. The National Weather Service also issued a new tornado watch across North Jersey. An earlier watch for South Jersey and much of Pennsylvania has been lifted. Overturned Tractor Trailer Shuts All Lanes Of NJ Turnpike In Bergen County
All lanes of the NJ Turnpike were closed as of 10:55 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 due to a tractor trailer that overturned in Bergen County, the NJDOT site says. It happened around 10:40 p.m. in the express lanes on the northbound side, just south of Exit 71 for Broad Avenue in Leonia. All lanes were blocked as of press time.

A 19-year-old motorcyclist from Moonachie was hospitalized after he was ejected during a rear-end crash early Tuesday with a Tesla on Route 17, authorities said. The May 7 morning rush was well underway when the motorcyclist rammed the other vehicle from behind just south of the busy Franklin Avenue intersection around 7:30 a.m. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that didn't appear to be life-threatening, Hasbrouck Heights Police Lt. A crash closed all lanes of Route 17 early Thursday, May 2 in Hackensack. The NJDOT website shows the crash happened in the southbound lanes near Summit Avenue sometime before 6 a.m. Photos of the scene show a tow truck and emergency response vehicles at the scene as of press time. Chicken Waste Spill Causes HazMat Situation Along South Jersey Highway
A trailer hauling chicken waste products crashed, spilling its contents all over Route 55 and causing a HazMat situation in Gloucester County on Monday, Feb. 27. The northbound side of the roadway was closed in Deptford from mile marker 59.2 to the Route 42 interchange following the 9 a.m. crash. The roadway had reopened as of 1:45 p.m., but crews were still on scene for cleanup. HazMat crews, the New Jersey State Police, NJDOT, and multiple fire departments were on scene. Environmental services were notified and were monitoring the incident. No injuries were reported.
