UPDATED: A 9-year-old girl died in a crash Tuesday morning in Toms River, The Lakewood Scoop reports. Leah Gross died when the minivan she was riding in veered off the roadway and struck a tree head-on at North Bay and Whitty Road at 9:16 a.m., the outlet said. She was taken by Hatzolah to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where she was pronounced dead, according to Matzav.com. A Toms River man was charged with two counts of murder in a shooting that left two dead early Sunday in Lakewood, authorities said. Tyshaun Drummond, 39, shot and killed Nicholas Hardy, 36, of Toms River, and Sergio Chavez-Perez, 32, of Lakewood, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. 100+ Lakewood Yeshiva Students Home With Mysterious Illness -- Not COVID: Report
More than 100 young men from various yeshivas across the Lakewood area were home this week with a mysterious illness -- and it's not COVID, The Lakewood Scoop reports. Approximately 50 students from each Jewish school came down with a fever and weakness last Thursday, and have been bedridden ever since, the outlet said. A 19-year-old man from New Jersey was killed during a crime spree outside of his Yeshiva Tuesday night in Denver. Shmuel Silverberg's body has been flown to Lakewood for a funeral service. The incident started with a call of a carjacking, in which a suspect got into a Honda CRV with the driver inside and pointed a gun at them. That victim was not injured, police say. Four New Jersey residents were arrested for distributing heroin, fentanyl and cocaine following an investigation involving nearly a dozen law enforcement agencies, authorities said Thursday. A Lakewood man was sentenced to eight years in New Jersey State Prison for shooting a 4-year-old girl playing outside last year, authorities said. Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Lourdes Lucas said Sciaire N.
