Champ Elise Nussbaum Still On Winning Streak A Jeopardy! contestant from Jersey City is still the game show's reigning champ, adding another $24,800 to her winnings in an episode that aired Friday.  Elise Nussbaum, a graduate of Dr. Ronald E. McNair Academic High School who now works in finance, started her winning streak Wednesday night, unseating an existing champion and defeating another challenger. This Woman From Jersey City Is The New Jeopardy! Champ. Who Is .... A financial planner from Jersey City crushed it on the high-brow quiz show Jeopardy! Wednesday night, defeating the returning champ with a $34,600 haul.  Elise Nussbaum beat out the winner from Tuesday, a New Hampshire medical student, and her fellow newcomer to the show, an engineer from Boston.  When she squares off against challengers Ryan Carmichael, of Queens, N.Y., and Miami resident Darrin Hall Thursday, it seems likely many Jersey City residents will be tuning in to cheer on their hometown gal.  Jeopardy! airs weeknights at 7 p.m. on WABC 7.

He will play again Wednesday evening as the returning champion. After 12 years of online screen tests, Backes joined the game Monday for the first time (the episode was taped in January), Rutgers University reports. He says the "hardcore science questions" are his weakness and a strength for his opponents. The Ramapo High School and Rutgers graduate is no newbie to trivia.
