New Jersey Teen Dies Christmas Eve Months After Bone Cancer Diagnosis Michael Januario, a 13-year-old boy from Newark, died months after being diagnosed with bone cancer, his family says. "Michael was an energetic, smart and amazing young man whose life was turned upside down this past summer," reads a GoFundMe launched for the family. He died at home on Christmas Eve, his obituary says. Nick played basketball and football at Lyndhurst High School (Class of 2021), where he was also the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America, his obituary says. Affectionately known as "Nicky Blue," he also served as the coach of Savino's in the township's Little League program, and as a 10U travel coach. James grew up and lived in Kearny, and was passionate about fishing, riding his ATV, video games and listening to music, his obituary says. Newark Archdiocese Cemeteries Reopening Mother's Day For Limited Burials, Visitation Gov. Phil Murphy's extension of the 30-day coronavirus state of emergency in New Jersey won't affect plans for Catholic cemeteries in Bergen, Hudson, Essex and Union counties to reopen for limited burials and visitation beginning on Mother's Day. Beginning this coming Monday, up to 10 family members will be permitted to attend a burial service (it's currently only two), the Archdiocese of Newark said. None family members cannot attend, the archdiocese added. Tombstone Pins Bayonne Woman, 67, At North Arlington Cemetery Two women were visiting a grave site at a North Arlington cemetery when one leaned on a tombstone that fell onto the other, pinning her, authorities said. North Arlington police got the stone off the 67-year-old Bayonne woman at Holy Cross Cemetary off Ridge Road early Saturday, Police Chief Scott Hedenberg said. She was taken to Jersey City Medical Center with arm and leg injuries that weren't considered life-threatening, the chief said.

Champion Lyndhurst Grappler Frank W. Schrimp III Dies, 29 Lyndhurst native Frank William Schrimp III of Lyndhurst died on May 18. He was 29 years old. Schrimp of Towaco was known for his quick wit, humor and looks. He was a loyal friend to many and always held his mother’s words, “I dance to the beat of my own drum” close to his heart.  Frank was a black belt in Aikido & Jujitsu and was a champion grappler.  More than $4,000 had been raised for him on a GoFundMe as of Wednesday afternoon.
