Six firefighters were hospitalized while knocking down a Hoboken fire as temperatures neared 100 degrees this weekend. The blaze at 219 Washington St. broke out just before 3:15 p.m. Saturday, July 23. Jersey City firefighters assisted in ventilating the building. UPDATE: A vacant warehouse blaze that injured a firefighter in Palisades Park was deliberately set by two Ridgefield residents, authorities charged. Hackensack firefighters doused a late-night blaze at a local Taco Bell. Companies opened an exterior wall and section of roof to extinguish the cockloft flames at the South River Street eatery shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday. Truck Fire Near Haledon School Quickly Doused
Firefighters doused a driveway SUV blaze near a Haledon grammar school before it could do further damage. The borough's bravest responded to the Barbour Street call, up the block from the K-8 Haledon Public School, around 3:30 p.m. They extinguished the fire within minutes while limiting damage to the homeowner's garage. Firefighters overcame cluttered conditions to douse an overnight house blaze in Dumont, responders said. The Richard Drive family and their pets weren't home when the fire broke out in a second-floor rear bedroom before dawn Friday, March 11, they said. Firefighters knocked it down within 20 minutes. No injuries were reported. Fire officials were investigating. A resourceful firefighter helped save a flooring company in Bogota from ruin before dawn Thursday, authorities said. Firefighters quickly got to Manning Bros Carpet & Flooring on East Fort Lee Road after the boiler-room blaze erupted around 5:15 a.m. There they found two nearby hydrants frozen. A member of Engine Co. 3 then grabbed a road flare and thawed out one of the hydrants.
