'Champion': President Of NJ Firefighters Association Dominick Marino Dies Suddenly
Dominick Marino, the president of the Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey, died suddenly at home on Tuesday, fire officials said. The cause of death was not immediately released. Marino served as a firefighter for the North Bergen Fire Department and North Hudson Regional Fire Rescue for more than 25 years. He retired from active service in 2011 and held multiple leadership positions. A seven-alarm fire tore through downtown Bound Brook Sunday night. The blaze broke out just before 8 p.m. in an unoccupied pair of buildings under construction on East Main Street near Mountain Avenue in the commercial district. Several Rescued From Apartment Building Fire In Montclair
Firefighters from Montclair and neighboring departments responded to a blaze at an apartment building that displaced several tenants, officials said. There were no reports of injuries. A passerby reported smoke in the area of Claremont and North Fullerton avenues around 12:36 a.m. Sunday. Firefighter Falls Through Floor At Glen Rock House Blaze
A Glen Rock firefighter wasn't seriously injured when he fell through a floor battling a home blaze late Wednesday night, authorities said. The firefighter went clear through to the basement in the two-alarm blaze on Greenway Road. Colleagues contained the fire to the kitchen of the two-story, wood-frame house and had it knocked down within 20 minutes of the 10:45 p.m. call, responders said. : Fire Ravages Vacant Ridgefield House
Responders suspect an electrical problem sparked a fire that blew through the roof of a vacant Ridgefield home before dawn Saturday. Firefighters battled cluttered conditions as well as flames that temporarily forced them to evacuate the Elm Avenue home after the broke out around 4:15 a.m. It took them about two hours to fully extinguish the blaze. Cliffside Park, Fort Lee and Palisades Park firefighters assisted their borough colleagues. No injuries were reported.

One Dead In Cranford House Fire Thursday
A fire at a home in Cranford claimed one person Thursday afternoon, police said. The fire broke out at a Brookdale Place home around 3 p.m. Firefighters from Cranford and several neighboring towns responded to the scene, police said. The victim was found inside the home and pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the fire was still under investigation Thursday.

Firefighters doused a basement blaze in Ramsey Monday afternoon. No one was injured in the smoky two-alarm fire on Grove Street. Former Ridgefield Firefighter, Ambulance Captain Bryan Berta Dies, 41
Bryan B. Berta of Ridgefield died on April 3. He was 41 years old. Born in Englewood, Bryan graduated from Ridgefield Memorial High School where he was in the marching band playing the Tuba and performed in several school musicals. He was a firefighter with Ridgefield Fire Co. 2 and former captain for the Ridgefield Ambulance Corp., his obituary says.
