2 Residents, Firefighter Injured In Late-Night Hackensack Blaze
A late-night fire in Hackensack injured two residents and a firefighter Thursday, July 3, fire officials said. Crews from the Hackensack Fire Departmentâs 3rd Platoon responded around 10:30 p.m. to a working fire on Fairmount Avenue near the Maywood border, Deputy Chief M. Christensen said. Firefighters found a fully involved first-floor bedroom and quickly knocked down the flames before they could spread to the second floor, Christensen said. 4,200-Acre Wildfire Forces Evacuations In Wharton State Forest, 5 Structures Threatened
A major wildfire burning in Wharton State Forest has scorched 4,200 acres and is now 40% contained, state officials said Saturday morning. The blaze, known as the Mines Spung Wildfire, is burning in the area of the Carranza Memorial in Shamong Township, Burlington County, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. 2-Alarm Blaze Displaces Dozens At Elmwood Park Apartment Complex, Police Say
Sixteen buildings lost power and multiple families were displaced after a 2-alarm fire broke out at an Elmwood Park apartment building overnight, authorities said. A caller reported seeing flames coming from a second-floor unit while driving on Iozia Terrace and called for help, according to Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno. A Ridgewood garbage truck driver was forced to dump the truckâs burning contents into an empty parking lot early Wednesday, March 5, after smoke was seen coming from the rear of the vehicle, according to incident reporter Boyd A. Loving. Ridgewood firefighters arrived quickly, finding two large piles of flaming debris on the asphalt, Loving said. Fire crews worked swiftly to extinguish the flames, preventing further spread. Firefighters contained a Fort Lee house blaze to a front bedroom after a passing lieutenant saw smoke. Fire Lt. Fire damaged a Fair Lawn auto repair shop on Saturday. Sprinklers helped douse a fire in a Lodi industrial building Sunday night. Firefighters "were met with heavy smoke and an activated sprinkler head," the borough fire department said. Maywood Firefighters Prevent Blaze After H2O Spills On Electrical Board
MAYWOOD, N.J. â The Maywood Fire Department stopped a potential fire by shutting power in an apartment after water spilled onto an electrical unit Wednesday evening. A broken water main created a steam and electrical condition at the Elm Court apartments on Passaic Street, Fire Chief Chris Tuttle said. Firefighters turned off the electricity in unit 6A to prevent a potential fire situation, caused by water from the first floor leaking into the basement, Tuttle said. Passaic Street has reopened to traffic after being closed from Maywood Avenue to Golf Road.
