Photos: SUV Flips On Route 17
A driver and his dog escaped serious injury after their SUV overturned on Route 17 on Wednesday, April 29, incident photographer Boyd A. Loving said.
The crash happened around 3 p.m. on in the southbound lanes near Racetrack Road, when the driver of a Honda Pilot and his dog, Adam, were inside the vehicle when it overturned onto its roof, Loving said (more photos here).
Emergency responders from the Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department, Ho-Ho-Kus EMS, Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene, according to Loving.

Missing NJ Hiker, 21, Died Of Hypothermia, Police Say (Update)
A cause of death has been released for the 21-year-old missing New Jersey woman whose dog was found alive near her body hours after she called 911 from an Upstate New York mountain last week.
Brianna "Bri" L. Mohr, of Brick Township, NJ, died of hypothermia on Thursday, Feb. 12, after she slipped off a trail near the summit of Mount Marcy just after 3 p.m., as previously reported by Daily Voice. Mohr called 911, but by the time rangers got to her around 9 p.m., it was too late. Mohr's dog, who was located near her body, was hiked to safety, officials said.

Two officers helped rescue a dog, named after the famed Sesame Street character, from the Arthur Kill in Elizabeth on Saturday, July 6, New Jersey State Police said.

Academy Award-winning actor Gene Hackman, his wife, and family dog have died at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The cause of death has not been confirmed, but foul play is not suspected, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement after they were found dead late Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 26. No further information has been released as of yet.

Three Firefighters Injured, 50 Displaced In Passaic Blaze, Authorities Say
A fire in Passaic on Sunday, June 23 injured three fighters and initially displaced more than 50 people, authorities said.
At 9 p.m. firefighters responded to a home on High Street, according to a release from the City of Passaic. The fire quickly spread to four homes, forcing firefighters to rescue four people who were stranded on the roofs of two different properties, authorities said.
No residents were injured, though a dog died from smoke inhalation, authorities said. Three firefighters were hospitalized, two from heat exhaustion and one with a shoulder injury, authorities said.
