Glen Rock Cop Tackles Suspected CVS Thief After Bystanders Point Him Out: PD
Quick-thinking citizens helped a Glen Rock police officer capture a shoplifting suspect who ran from a CVS with more than $200 in stolen goods, authorities said.
The Rock Road store’s manager reported the theft at 9:57 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, according to Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann. A man later identified as Michael Hand, 33, of Highland Lakes, had taken $244 worth of deodorant, body wash, eye drops, a hair cutting kit, and candy, then fled, Ackermann said.

A resident of Hudson County has been diagnosed with measles, the New Jersey Department of Health announced Tuesday, July 15.
The single confirmed case is not known to be related to the Ocean County measles case reported last week, NJDOH said. New Jersey is not currently experiencing a measles outbreak, which is defined as three or more related cases by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NJDOH said.

UPDATE: A third member of an organized crew was charged in connection with the theft of nearly $3,650 worth of cosmetics from a Glen Rock CVS in separate trips, authorities said.
Maria Lacerna-Fernandez, 35, of Paterson, participated in the shopliftings at the Rock Road pharmacy on May 19 and 24, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said on Tuesday, June 20.

A Glen Rock police detective nabbed an organized pair of thieves -- one from Elmwood Park, the other from Paterson -- who swiped nearly $3,650 worth of cosmetics from a local CVS in separate trips, authorities said.
Detective Sgt. James Calaski identified Carla E. Granda-Jara, a 37-year-old resident of the Silk City, and Ricardo E. Campos-Bardales, 42, following the May 19 and May 24 shopliftings at the Rock Road pharmacy, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
