Dads Take Traditional Walk To Hasbrouck Heights HS Football Game -- 19.7 Miles Away An educated guess told Ron Kistner that a quick stop lay ahead for him and buddy Bob Salerno more than halfway through a personal-record 19.7-mile walk to the Hasbrouck Heights/Butler high school football game in Butler on Friday. “Two middle-aged guys,” Kistner told Daily Voice. “Sooner or later, nature’s gonna call.” Kistner, a Hasbrouck Heights councilman and Allendale DPW director of operations, began walking to his son’s road games in 2011.  Salerno, a Lodi police lieutenant, has joined him on several jaunts -- or treks, depending on your perspective. Ramadan At Juicy Platters Hackensack Means No Food, No Coffee, Just Faith Ayesha Yousuf of Paramus hasn't had food or water since sunrise. She will spend her day preparing meals for others in a hot kitchen, on her feet -- unable to eat the food or drink the liquid that she will be serving customers at Phat Platters on Route 17 all day. The 20-year-old will do this for 29 more days because today, Thursday, is the first day of Ramadan. The 30-day holiday in the ninth month of the Islamic calendar commemorates the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad. Two important factors are fasting and charity work. Yousuf says the first few days of Ramadan are the most di…

Dolphin Dream Comes True For Ailing Paramus Girl, 6 The wish of a Paramus 6-year-old battling a critical illness became a reality thanks to the combined efforts of Jersey Mike's Subs in Ridgewood and Emerson along with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. After keeping Daniella’s wish a secret from her for months, her parents woke her up and handed her a stuffed dolphin and an itinerary for a surprise trip. Daniella then woke her brothers one by one, and announced the family was going on an adventure to the Florida Keys. Her wish experience gave her the chance to heal and begin a new chapter in her life, creating memories with her family that would …
