A trio of thieving New Yorkers were in the middle of a big-ticket crime spree at the Garden State Plaza -- snatching nearly 200 items worth more than $12,800 in under an hour and a half -- when Paramus police nabbed them, authorities said. A 60-year-old Bronx man who tried to pull a fast one at a Tenafly bank pretended to be someone else when police caught up to him, authorities said. Andre Evans went to one bank and tried depositing $3,800 that wasn't his into an account, then went to another branch and tried to withdraw it using a New Jersey driver's license that also didn't belong to him, Tenafly Police Capt. A 22-year-old driver escaped injury when his sedan ran off Route 17 and into the woods during a rainstorm, authorities said. The Bronx motorist was headed south when his Honda Civic slid off the road at the Hollywood Avenue exit in Ho-Ho-Kus shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, Police Capt. Greg McBain said.
