Motorist Freed By Firefighters After Crashing Into Her Hasbrouck Heights Home
A Hasbrouck Heights motorist appeared OK after her SUV plowed into the attached garage of her home and borough firefighters extricated her, responders said. The house on Raymond Street between Burton Avenue and Boulevard may have sustained some structural damage that would require attention, however, they said. A building inspector will make that call. A Teaneck pedestrian was knocked cold when he was struck by a motorcycle outside the iHop on Cedar Lane, authorities said. The 48-year-old victim was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center by the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps following the 5 p.m. crash on Tuesday, Dec. 26, Police Capt. Chris Kurschner said. A skydiver was flown to an area hospital with injuries suffered in an accident at a New Jersey airport over the weekend. New Jersey State Police said only that the accident happened around 1:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5 in a wooded swamp north of the Sussex County Airport in Wantage. The skydiver had crashed was airlifted to a nearby hospital for evaluation, New Jersey State Police said.

Falling Tree Limb In Fair Lawn Knocks Elmwood Park Man Off Ladder
A 60-year-old Elmwood Park man cutting down a tree on a residential Fair Lawn street was struck by a falling limb and knocked off a ladder, authorities said. The victim complained of leg and shoulder pain after falling 20 or so feet shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday, July 20. Members of the Fair Lawn Ambulance Corps took him to Hackensack University Medical Center, Police Sgt. Eric Eleshewich said. Borough police and Fair Lawn Rescue members also responded, the sergeant said.

Mom, Daughter OK After SUV Hits Deer On Route 4
A mother and her young daughter escaped serious injury when their SUV hit a deer on Route 4. The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 hit the deer on the westbound highway in Englewood shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15. A good Samaritan stopped and stayed with the two occupants until police arrived. Both sustained apparently minor airbag injuries, he said.

A delivery driver told police he accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake, sending his van barreling nose-first into the Hackensack River on Monday. The 45-year-old driver from Pennsylvania refused aid after climbing out the back. He didn't immediately receive any summonses. Chicken Waste Spill Causes HazMat Situation Along South Jersey Highway
A trailer hauling chicken waste products crashed, spilling its contents all over Route 55 and causing a HazMat situation in Gloucester County on Monday, Feb. 27. The northbound side of the roadway was closed in Deptford from mile marker 59.2 to the Route 42 interchange following the 9 a.m. crash. The roadway had reopened as of 1:45 p.m., but crews were still on scene for cleanup. HazMat crews, the New Jersey State Police, NJDOT, and multiple fire departments were on scene. Environmental services were notified and were monitoring the incident. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters rescued a 38-year-old man who fell down an elevator shaft Thursday, Feb. 2 in Somerset County, authorities said. Responders found the Watchung man stuck in a building on Mettlers Road around 2:30 p.m. in Franklin Township, township police Lt. Vincent T. Wilson said. The victim was removed but had suffered multiple injuries, and was taken to the hospital by Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital BLS and ALS. The building was ordered to be evacuated by the Franklin Township fire marshal and fire inspectors and the building will be closed pending an OSHA investigation.

Flames swept through a Wildwood motel causing nearly $500,000 in damages Tuesday, June 14. Squads arrived to the Ocean Avenue motel around 11:30 a.m. as the fire consumed the second floor.
