Sports collectors Eric Inselberg, Michael Jakab and Sean Godown first filed suit three years ago, but an email in connection to the suit surfaced earlier this month, the article says.
The plaintiffs' lawyer said the email was crucial in linking Manning to the suit, which accuses the quarterback of passing off memorabilia as game-worn when it was not, ESPN reports.
The suit also says that the New York Giants deleted the emails from the system, according to the article.
Manning has been heavily involved with Tackle Kids Cancer, which raises funds for research and programs at the Children’s Cancer Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center.
The trial is slated for Sept. 25.
