Students gathered Thursday morning outside of the school for a demonstration by the Hackensack fire and police departments on the consequences of not driving responsibly.
The public entities staged a car crash requiring the use of heavy duty equipment to extract high school aged "victims" from the wreckage — as they do annually.
Each year this is done to present the real world risks of driving under the influence, texting while driving or not paying attention while driving, teachers said.
The presentation is meant to keep the prom participants safe from such lapses in reason, according to school officials.
