Doctors at Hackensack University Medical Center will remove a piece of bone and fuse two vertebrae, Tedesco told Daily Voice from home early this evening.
Tedesco said doctors told him to expect to spend two to four days of recovery at HUMC.
"I've been better," he said of his condition, caused by discitis and osteomyelitis. "It's painful."
Despite two months of pain, Tedesco has maintained a full schedule.
Told he would have to delegate responsibility for the immediate future, he laughed.
Tedesco said he'll curtail what is ordinarily an extremely active public life but plans to continue to fully oversee county government's day-to-day operations.
"As anyone who knows him can attest, the County Executive hates to sit on the sidelines," his communications director, Alicia D’Alessandro, said this afternoon. "[He] will eagerly resume a full public schedule as soon as his physicians allow him to do so.”
