Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said Michele Simms-Parris of 65 Irvington Road represented a client in an undisclosed matter on March 10 before Superior Court Judge Robert P. Contillo in Hackensack.

Simms-Parris, 38, a partner in the firm Simms-Parris, Maldonado and Tehauno of Teaneck, had been temporarily suspended from practicing law in the State of New Jersey less than a week earlier, Molinelli said.

Prosecutors obtained an arrest warrant from a judge charging her with unauthorized practice of law after Simms-Parris didn’t show up for an interview with members of Molinelli’s staff on April 25.

They looked for her the following day, with no luck, then obtained the arrest warrant, which carries $2,500 bail, the prosecutor said.
