Teaneck ex-con indicted in Tenafly burglary

ONLY ON CVP: A 30-year-old ex-con already facing a string of charges for his role in what became a police chase from Englewood to Paramus following the thefts of copper piping last April was indicted by a grand jury in Hackensack in connection with a November 2013 burglary in Tenafly.

Rameesh Dula, 30, of Teaneck, cut the cable wires before burglarizing an Engle Street home, the indictment returned this week says.

Dula, who remained held in the Bergen County Jail on a combined bail just under $150,000, has a history of arrests for drugs, weapons and other offenses, records show.

Police said he bailed from a moving SUV being driven by another Teaneck man after they stole copper piping from two abandoned houses at Cross Street and Levinsohn Place in Englewood.

An officer grabbed Dula, and the driver, 27-year-old Marquis Z. Holloman, kept going, they said.

Soon after, Holloman filled up the SUV’s gas tank at a service station on westbound Route 4 and took off without paying, Paramus Deputy Police Chief Robert Guidetti told CLIFFVIEW PILOT at the time.

A Fort Lee police officer who was passing by spotted the Volvo and alerted his Paramus colleagues, who quickly closed in, Guidetti said.

Holloman’s SUV struck one police vehicle before the front of an unmarked cruiser collided with its rear quarter-panel, sending it into a spin and leaving it nearly perpendicular across the road.

Holloman bailed out but was cornered by police in a nearby parking lot after he ran across Route 17 and back again, witnesses told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Inside the vehicle police said they could see copper piping.

Dula was treated at Englewood Hospital & Medical Center before being processed. An indictment returned in October charged him with fleeing, obstruction and illegal possession of a knife and box cutter, among other offenses.
