Craig Raymond Gunset and George Gunset of Sloatsburg were both found passed out in a car parked at a Route 17 gas station just before 1 a.m., a little over seven hours after the Chase Bank on Lafayette Avenue in Hawthorne was robbed, authorities said.

In plain view were heroin and needles, authorities said.

Hasbrouck Heights Officers Nick Brunetti, Kevin Condal and James Ciccarelli  spotted the brothers’ 1998 Plymouth Neon in the Shell station lot on the northbound highway, then took both into custody and alerted their Paramus colleagues — who’d issued a warrant for Craig Gunset’s arrest three days ago.

Authorities said the 5-foot-6-inch, 170-pound Gunset, 32, was the acne-scarred robber who passed a note and fled the TD Bank on South Paramus Road at the Garden State Parkway exit on the Rochelle Park border with an undisclosed amount of cash the night of Feb. 27 (photos above).

He was wearing a checkered hoodie under a black Carhartt-style jacket and over what looks like a billed cap and sunglasses, had a chin-strap-style beard and “physically implied that he was armed with a weapon,” Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said at the time.

The elder Gunset was being held on a combined $260,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with two counts of bank robbery.

George Gunset — who turns 31 tomorrow — was being held on a combined $60,000 bail on two counts of conspiracy>

Both also were charged with various drug offenses.

Ehrenberg said the arrests culminated a joint investigation including the FBI that began with last Friday’s holdup.

“Over the next 48 hours, detectives of the Paramus Police Department and agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation worked tirelessly to identify Craig Gunset for the robbery of the TD Bank,” the chief said this afternoon.

“Some of the information was developed with the assistance of the general public.”

On Sunday, police issued a warrant for Craig Gunset’s arrest for bank robbery.

“Over the next few days detectives, special agents, with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration, scoured numerous locations both in New Jersey and New York,” Ehrenberg said.

“This continues to be an ongoing investigation,” he said.
