A PAPD officer stopped the man for driving a 2009 Cadillac on the shoulder of the New Jersey Turnpike early last night, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.

The officer, smelling burnt marijuana, questioned the driver (above, left), who “made statements to the effect that he had been smoking marijuana and that he did not have a driver’s license,” Pentangelo said.

He then gave the officer a false name and birthdate, said he lived at the jail and refused to take a sobriety test, Pentangelo said.

The officer also reported spotting a pipe used to smoke pot in plain view in the car.

The passenger also tried giving officers a false name, then denied his real name before finally relenting, Pentangelo said.

It turned out he was wanted on a warrant out of Pennsylvania, he said.

As police took him into custody, he began “flailing his arms and throwing himself around” before they subdued him, Pentangelo said.

Identified as 27-year-old Krysten Pretior (right) of Johnstown, PA, he was charged with resisting arrest, giving a false report to police and being a fugitive from justice.

The driver, who was processed as a John Doe, was charged with tampering with evidence, hindering apprehension and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police impounded the Caddy.

NOTES: A truck was impounded yesterday and a 34-year-old North Bergen man arrested after a PAPD officer stopped the vehicle for spilling debris on Route 440 in Bayonne. It also was missing its rear tail light, Pentangelo said. Wilson Cifuentes was charged with operating with a suspended license and having an open warrant out of Guttenberg. He also was issued five traffic summonses, Pentangelo said.
