The 17-year-old Newark youth was charged with gang assault and robbery, the same as another 17-year-old who was picked up on Wednesday, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

A combination of interviews and video reviews have led to the additional two apprehensions since the Oct. 13 incident aboard a Jersey City-bound PATH train from Manhattan.

Authority officers stopped the train in Hoboken and stopped the assaults on four adults. They took six juveniles into custody in the 1:20 a.m. assault, which sent four adults to the hospital and forced the suspension of PATH service for an hour and 10 minutes as they looked for other possible assailants.

The victims were three men, ages 29, 22 and 21 (two of them from Morris County), and a 21-year-old woman who hurt her shoulder when one of the teens ripped her purse from her arm, Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

One man had a cut lip and bruises on his face, another had facial injuries so severe he needed stitches and the third had a cut on his eye, he said.

Police found a wallet belonging to one of the victims on the tracks, Pentangelo said.

All eight youths, between 15 and 17, were being held in the Hudson County Juvenile Detention Center.
