Port Authority PD: Flier Tries Toting Gun Through Newark Airport Checkpoint

A Pennsylvania man had a loaded gun in his backpack as he passed through a Newark Airport checkpoint, said Port Authority police who arrested him.

"The .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun was among the man’s carry-on items as he entered one of the airport checkpoints," the authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.

The checkpoint X-ray machine detected the pistol, Port Authority police were summoned and the area was shut down, Pentangelo said.

PAPD officers arrested 30-year-old Christopher C. Brown of Morrisville, PA and seized the gun, he said.
