Port Authority: Hackensack man at airport had $23,000 in counterfeit bills

It was his 34th birthday as Fred Moloche of Hackensack strode through JFK Airport after arriving from Peru — with $23,000 in counterfeit hundred-dollar bills in his luggage, authorities said.

Moloche, who lives just off Route 80 on West Franklin Street, was held by a TSA agent who alerted Port Authority police.

They took him into custody and notified the U.S. Secret Service, which verified that the bills were bogus, Joseph Pentangelo of the Port Authority said.

Moloche was being held on $10,000 bail pending an Aug. 6 court hearing on first-degree forgery charges.
