Police officer shoved, two men arrested in Hasbrouck Heights bar brawl

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Two men who got into a drunken brawl over who was driving home both got arrested outside a Hasbrouck Heights bar last night after one pushed a police officer and the other refused to stop screaming profanities, authorities said.

Michael Debruyn, 49, of Hasbrouck Heights began walking away as officers responded to the fight outside the Heights Bar and Grill, at the corner of Boulevard and Division Avenue, Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

John Bialek, also 49, of Wallington then stepped in front of the officers and pushed one of them in the chest, Colaneri said.

They immediately took him into custody, the lieutenant said.

Debruyn “walked back to the scene and began yelling and screaming profanities,” Colaneri said. “He was told to calm down but failed to comply and was arrested for disorderly conduct.”

Both were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for detoxification, under New Jersey’s Alcohol Treatment and Rehabilitation Act (ATRA), and then released on court summonses.
